The Lump That Changed My Life

I never imagined that at the age of 40, I would hear the word "cancer" associated with my own name.

Like many women, I believed breast cancer was something that happened to other people. I had a busy life, work commitments, children to care for, research projects to complete, and countless plans for the future. Cancer was never part of that picture.

Then one day, everything changed.

The journey began when a lump in my left breast was investigated. What started which I thought might be an inflammation became a series of scans, reports, and unfamiliar medical terminology.

The ultrasound revealed a suspicious mass measuring about 15 mm in my left breast. The mammogram identified a corresponding lesion measuring approximately 25 mm. The radiologist classified it as BI-RADS 4, meaning that it was suspicious enough to require a biopsy. I still remember waiting for the biopsy results. (it's considered fast as it only took 3 days)

Anyone who has gone through this process will understand the strange feeling of living between hope and fear. Part of me wanted to believe it would be nothing serious. Another part of me was already preparing for difficult news. The pathology report confirmed what I had feared.

The diagnosis was predominantly high-grade ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), accompanied by small areas of invasive carcinoma.

Before this experience, I learned that DCIS refers to abnormal cancer cells confined within the milk ducts. It is often described as Stage 0 breast cancer because it has not yet broken through the duct walls. However, my report also contained another phrase: invasive carcinoma.

That single word changed everything. It meant that some cancer cells had already begun moving beyond the ducts into surrounding breast tissue. The invasive component was described as very small, too small to grade accurately from the biopsy sample, but it was present.

At that moment, my journey changed from dealing with a suspicious lump to confronting breast cancer. Ironically, some of the most difficult days were not after receiving the diagnosis. They were the days of waiting that followed.

Waiting for appointments. Waiting for additional tests. Waiting for scan results. Waiting for doctors to tell me what would happen next.

Cancer teaches you that uncertainty are harder than certainty.

Every report was read repeatedly. Every sentence felt significant. Every medical term seemed to carry enormous weight.

One encouraging finding was that no enlarged axillary lymph nodes were seen on the imaging studies. While further investigations were still needed, this provided some reassurance during a time when reassurance was difficult to find.

As I moved through the diagnostic process, I began to realise something important.

Cancer does not only affect the body.

It affects the mind, the emotions, the family, and even one's sense of identity.

As a mother, my thoughts often returned to my children. I wondered about the future. I wondered how much of this journey they would understand. I wondered what memories I was still meant to create with them.

Yet alongside the fear came something unexpected.

Gratitude.

Gratitude for modern medicine.

Gratitude for doctors who took my concerns seriously.

Gratitude for family and friends.

Gratitude for another day to wake up, love, work, learn, and hope.

I do not yet know every chapter of this story. There are still treatments, decisions, and challenges ahead.

But cancer has already taught me a lesson I might otherwise have taken years to learn.

Life is not measured by the number of years we expect to have. It is measured by what we do with the day that is in front of us. Nothing seems important anymore except to be able to live on.

Today, I continue to move forward one step at a time. Not because I am fearless. But because there is no other way forward.

And even on the hardest days, hope still has a place beside uncertainty.

Looking for a purpose in life

I am reading The Power of Purpose by Richard J. Lieder. I have only just started and yet what he wrote seems familar. It has almost the same content as what Steiner mention and it is what the Biography class is about. Yeah, I am enrolled with the Biography class - main reason is to find a purposeful life. Why am I here this life? What is my karma? Why have I chosen this body? There are so many questions which I am still asking myself.

How many of you out there is asking the same?

Have you found out your purpose in life?

What is your motivation in waking up every morning?

These are some questions I keep asking myself since I knew how to think. We can't be waking up everyday to work for money. Money is not something that we live for, it is only a tool to keep us alive. What then, is the purpose behind this life.

Isn't this question worth ponder upon?

An education stemmed from love

Since early twenties, I have always wanted to educate my students with love and not the conventional way. When I talk about education, I will always be reminded of my teachers who would shout at me, yell at me - though with good intentions. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t blame them but there’s something in me which feels that there must be some other ways of educating students.

When I finally get a chance to teach, I kept reminding myself “Don’t flare up, teach with love.” Then, the other me couldn’t surprise the anger. I would then ended up shouting at them or scolding them. Exactly how I grew up with. After shouting at them, I would feel guilty and often question myself if I have dampen their confidence or spoilt their learning experience.

Things went on for a few years and I decided to take a break from teaching. I didn’t like the way I was. Things didn’t change when I became a mother of three. I was mean and strict to them although I hold on to the principle to teach with love. I wanted to, but I didn’t know how.

It was in 2023 when I decided to send my youngest son to a Waldorf kindergarten. I came across Waldorf in 2015 but due to financial constraints, we couldn’t afford to send our eldest to a Waldorf school. Now another chance arrived. I quickly enrolled my youngest, L to this Waldorf school 15 minutes away from my house. It was the best decision ever.

The place was filled with love - I could feel it with all five senses. It was beyond words. The children were happily playing - climbing trees, building sand castles, swinging on a swing, running around barefoot. There were angelic voices singing freely, smells of home cooked food from the kitchen, not to mention the sight of nature surrounding this place. You wouldn’t call it a school by looking at it!

L was only 3 then, he had separation anxiety but after a while, he loved going to this place - school. There was no stress, no fear, no negative emotions. You might be worried, how about learning? I can tell you, you don’t have to be worried. In Waldorf school, there is a time for every learning. This education meets your child at the place where your child is ready. In short, why rush? What good does it brings to graduate early? Why teach your child something he or she is not ready for?

Then I realised, life is a long journey. Learning never stop - there is something that meets you at certain stages of your life. It can never be beneficial if you force something into someone who is not ready. Let time work its magic on the students.

Now that I am a Waldorf school music teacher, I gradually find my own way in bringing music into my students’ life. There is no longer shouting or yelling in the classroom, it is now replaced with laughters and joyous moments. Are they learning it right then? I can’t be sure of it but what I am sure of is they love music - it will be their lifelong companion. Isn’t it what music education means?

New Hope - New Life

You are in charge of your own destiny!

It’s over, finally it’s over. Everything I had thought of I true. He has been lying and I finally break free from his manipulation.

I grew, a lot~

Now, I just want to jot down every little thing in life which makes life alive!

J has been reading a lot, an avid reader I would say.

His Christmas present wish was a book from Dan Brown. So I bought 2 for him (there’s additional 20% off with 2 books purchased)

This is how I break the curse - the family curse

My parents would never buy me any books - not to mention novels… it sure moulded me into a spendthrift person but at the same time - don’t I deserve a present? Something I want to own….

Gifting is a way to show your love - and this Christmas I choose to give something to my children, just to remind them they are loved!

CNY 2015: 2nd bake of the year, Little Sheep

Whilst waiting for the almond crisps to bake, I prepared the ingredients for the following bake, Little Sheep German Cookies. Basically it uses German Cookies recipe but moulding the cookie into Little Sheep. It is just too adorable to not try to bake it. Last year I've baked German cookies so I kinda have an idea of what to expect. So here's the recipe:

Little Sheep German Cookies
(Yield approx. 80 pieces)

250g butter
80g icing sugar
250g potato flour
160g superfine flour
Chocolate chips and.black sesame for decoration

1) Beat butter and sugar till light n fluffy
2) Sieve potato flour and superfine flour. Mix them into butter and sugar mixture
3) Put the batter into the fridge for 20-30 minutes so that it is easier to shape
4) Shape the batter into round shape, add 2 chocolate chips as horns, sesame seed as eyes and 2 small ball between horns
5) Bake them for 15-20 minutes at 150 Celsius

Note:
1) Can replace superfine flour with normal flour
2) Use cheap local made chocolate as they are more heat resistant, you do not want the horns to melt when they are baked

Ready to bake

Baking of Little Sheep

Due to my body condition, I made half of the batter and kept half for tomorrow. It's indeed time consuming shaping the sheep.

CNY 2015: 1st bake of the year, Almond Crisp

It's this time of the year again... I told yuan last year that I am not going to bake this year coz it's just too tiring for me. Furthermore, I'm expecting another baby, my body might not able to stand too long... But, blame it on my itchy hand. I can't help but to bake after seeing so many posts online. So many people baking and it's making me hungry!

This afternoon, I made Yuan bring me to the baking ingredient shop to buy ingredients to bake. I've decided to kick off my baking with Almond Crisps. This recipe is easy as there is this premix powder, and all you have to do is mix it with nuts of your choice. Initially, I wanted to bake with almond but looking at the price of it, it's wiser to mix with other nuts, eg. Pumpkin seed, sunflower seed, peanuts flakes, etc.

Here's the recipe:
100g florentine premix
200g nuts (almonds, pumpkin, sesame, etc.)

1) Mix florentine and nuts in a bowl
2) Place baking paper or parchment paper on baking tray
3) Spread the mixture on the baking paper. Make sure the layer is level
4) Place it into the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes at 160 Celsius
5) Take it out when it's light brown. Cut it immediately while it's hot cause it will harden when cool.

Note:
1) Spread a thin layer if u do not want your crisps to be too sweet
2) Make sure to take the crisps out when it's light brown, not brown. It gets burnt easily
3) Some people pour 1/2 of the mixture on tray, then nuts then another 1/2 of the mixture again. Whichever way you do it, make sure where there is powder, there must be nuts and vice versa

Baking in progress

Cut it into pieces while it's still piping hot

This is how 1 piece looks like
Total yield for 300g powder (of course, some extras went into my stomach)

Happy Baking!
Ps: I'm a novice baker, if I can do it, so can u!

Catalyst VCO

Recently, I've been reading on gentle birthing so that I am prepared for my 2nd son. Saw a post on Facebook saying that she manage to give birth without episiotomy, one of the thing she did was to consume VCO during pregnancy. It is said that VCO is able to improve ur skin's elasticity besides helping on metabolism and others... One can always google about the benefit of Virgin Coconut Oil. Then, I googled bout it. Last year I actually bought 3 bottles of liquid VCO for consumption but after taking a spoon, I stop. I just couldn't stand the smell. And the idea of swallowing oil puts me off. So when I saw that there is VCO in soft gel capsule, I was thinking perhaps this might suit me. From the Facebook post, the same user mentioned she consumed Catalyst VCO. Then I began searching and found. At the same time, I too went to iHerbs to check out the price. Seems that it's cheaper on iHerbs but due to currency exchange (which at this point, MYR is at its lowest) I feel that this Catalyst brand is worth trying.

And so the search to find Catalyst VCO begins. It is actually a Malaysia made product and sold by MLM method (which I dislike). Since there's no other way of buying it, I have to buy from a member. It seems most of the members sell through their blogs and I came across one blog (http://catalystshop.blogspot.com/2011/03/virgin-coconut-oil-softgel-capsules.html) who's selling this VCO at RM35.00 (compared to rrp of RM39.90). I immediately placed my order. God knows why I'm so daring to place an order without checking the sender's reliability. After paying, I was afraid if the seller just disappear, after all, I don't have his/her details. I'm not even sure if I can lodge a report if it as a scam. However, I was thinking too much~ the seller SMS me the next day with tracking number and I receive the product the next day. :)

So here it is...

Our year end holiday

Yuan took leave on 26th Dec to accompany us at home. That means we have a LONG weekend! It's 4 days long, coincidently I am also having my teaching Christmas break. Finally we get to spend time together, all 3 of us. We didn't plan what to do, but it doesn't matter coz as long as we're together, it's already enough.

On the eve of Christmas, we went shopping at Giant. I've bought RM200 voucher from groupon last week at RM170 and it's going to expire on 31st December 2014. We took the opportunity to shop for the plastic cabinet to store J's shirt. End up, we spend RM230. Reached home bout 12am, J dozed off in the car.

On 25th, we woke up 10am, ate roti prata then went to buy some hardware item. Went back home as it was drizzling. Cleaned the house. Went out for lunch at ji de chi and back home again. Basically it was a lazy Christmas :)
J can help clean the grill now

26th was a more fruitful day. We went to have dim sum for breakfast. Went to shop for sofa after that. Then, went to Jusco for some shopping. What back home to rest before heading off for char kuey tiaw for dinner. After dinner we went to auto city to have a look at the piano one of the Parent was talking about. We managed to take some photos there. They decorated it for Christmas and it was quite nice.

Testing out sofa

Taken on christmas (we went too early shop not open so went back home)

Taken on 26th, we went back again to shop

27th will be the most fruitful day as we spend the most today. We finally bought a sofa, but the sofa will on be delivered end of January... huhu.... Went out for brunch, had bak kut teh, cia xiang bak kut teh. It was reasonable but not as tasty as the Sei Hwa or Kota Tinggi's XO bak kut teh. Of course price wise, it's a little bit cheaper here. After brunch, we continue our sofa hunt.

Look how happy he is

We end up buying the beige color one at RM1260. After surveying around Simpang Ampat, Alma, Prai, Perda. All single seat recliner is priced at about RM1400. This one here at Lazio Sofa, Perda is the cheapest and its full leather. Although the leather is bonded leather, but i believe others are also selling the same. This sofa's warranty is slightly shorter than others, the mechanism is 1 year, sofa is 5 years and no warranty for the leather. Other shops have up to 6 years warranty for their sofa and mechanism. Leather wise, it's 50-50, half of them do not offer any warranty, and half has 1-3 years of warranty.

side view of the sofa we bought

After a long day, we went back home after buying some laksa and goreng pisang for tea break. J was already sleeping in the car when we were on our way back so he continue sleeping after reaching home. That night, we had cake for dinner. I baked yoghurt lemon cupcake and steamed milo cake. Decorated with whipped cream.

The last day of Yuan's long weekend was spent at home. We were practically exhausted from our marathon shopping... Basically we ran out of budget for the month. haha~ so we stayed home and did nothing. I made Oreo cupcake for tomorrow's breakfast and cooked porridge for dinner. That explains why my stomach is growling already now! time to find some supper for this little Kathlyn in my tummy while J is already fast asleep beside me.

I'm a blessed Mummy and Wife!

I love you my hubby XOXO

Jaevyn is down with hfmd

Poor baby boy huh... He barely recover from his chicken pox n in less than a month he has gotten the hand foot and mouth disease... His chicken pox scar is still around when we the rashes appear. We never would have though he would caught this hfmd coz he is taken care by me and had minimum exposure to other kids. But shopping at tesco, aeon and other mall will also increase his exposure risk.

It started last Thursday, he was a bit cranky in the noon. He woke up after his short nap and cried while pointing to his throat. I thought he choked on something so I tried to ask him cough it out but nothing came out. At bout 8pm when I finish teaching, his dad found out he has fever. We still went to see Celine caroling coz we have promised her parents. We thought it was just a normal fever so we went ahead. He was in a bad mood, he refused to eat anything at the caroling party. We came back at 9pm.

His fever went up to 40 C, yuan wanted to give him fever med but I insisted on not giving. He is able to sleep that night, without waking up or whimpering or crying. That night, I googled and his symptom looks like it was tonsillitis. If that's the case then his fever should go away soon and his throat will recover as well.

The next day, yuan took half day leave because we had to go into Penang to get something done. In the morning, J's fever dropped, to bout 38, so I presume he's recovering so we went to Penang that noon. Brought J to swim at Springfield. It was a tiring day, we even bought a cake before coming back home, just because Kathlyn felt like eating it :p

Friday night was ok for J, perhaps he was tired swimming and playing and didn't get any proper nap. Saturday morning was suppose to go Pei Lin house cos her piano will be delivered today. We went together with J. It is during then we saw J has red spots on his face. In the car on our way to lunch, I saw spots on his palm and leg. I was like..., gosh, don't tell me it's hfmd! True indeed. We went to Tc yeoh's clinic and he confirmed it was hfmd. That night was the worse night.... Luckily Yuan took care of him while I get to rest as my round ligament was pain, due to the expansion of my uterus accommodating Kathlyn... J couldn't sleep whole night. He slept around 11pm, whimpering in his sleep, and officially woke up at 1am. Yuan played with him till 4am when he finally felt tired and sleep. During that 3 hours, yuan told me J kept asking him to apply calamine lotion on his feet. He must be itchy, during his sleep as well, he keep moving his buttock. I assume it's itchy as well. It wasn't that bad when he had chicken pox.

Luckily it was a weekend, yuan was around to help me take care of J for 2 full days. Yuan was exhausted, and he still has to go to work on Monday. Luckily he can go in late a bit.

This is J taking his nap on Monday evening... His rashes went off a bit, but there are still ulcers in his mouth and lips. Some blisters starting to dry up...

Perspective

Perspective is the way we look at things.

This morning I woke up feeling sad because I dreamt of my grandmother who passed away in 2008. Time flies, it has been 6 years since. Before she pass away, I couldn't imagine life without her but look at me now, still surviving after 6 years. I don't know how I did it but time passes no matter how reluctant u are. So why suddenly "perspective"?

It is few hours after I woke up I thought of what I told my husband few days back. It's about his job as the production engineer. I told him then, that job is a boring job, no sense of accomplishment. Everyday u deal with quantity, how many pcb has been assembled, 100, 1000 or 10000? The only objective in your job is to produce maximum amount of workable pcba in the shortest amount of time. Years will only go by and in the end u realize that ur job has been meaningless. However, today, my perspective on his job changed. It just changed, with nothing to trigger it.

It came to me today that my husband job as the production engineer is like the front line soldier going for battle. He mentioned before that his job is stressful, 1 mistake and he will get the whole batch of scrap pcb. 1 wrong component and the whole batch of pcb is useless. He needs to be highly concentrated in order to not make 1 mistake. Come to think of it, his job is indeed challenging. I mean, how can a front line soldier job be boring? Every morning he wakes up prepare himself to battle. He has to battle with the machine, the operators and his fellow colleagues.

I think it is only today that I realize every job is actually meaningful. It's just how u look at it, ur perspective towards it. I used to look down on people doing sales, I even said that when I went to interview for a sales engineer post. I couldn't accept that people who does that actually get paid more than people who do the technical stuffs. Well, I guess my perspective will change. Honestly speaking,  perhaps I don't have any experience with sales, i still can't figure how their job match their pay.

Another perspective that I suddenly thought of, (well this thing actually got me started thinking on other things) is about being a music teacher. I have been teaching with my own perspective and own expectation on students. Have i ever look at it from the students' perspective? Why must I stereotype them? Thinking that they don't practice is purely due to their laziness just because that was my reason? I think a course should be given on "Perspective". I hope I will be able to do it one fine day. Just keep this simple idea in my blog so I don't forget it.

It's time for a New Year Resolution \@@/

Time flies... it has been 1 year since i am a lawfully wedded wife... hehe... Looking back at what i've accomplished last year....
1. Passed Grade 8 theory with distinction
2. Took ATCL piano performance
3. Resigned and be a full time music teacher

You might not think of it as an accomplishment but for me, they are. I finally get to work at my own time - I get to decide what time to go to work, what time to finish work. I get to decide my salary... It feels real good to be on my own but it's more stressful than to work with other people. Well, there's always two sides to a coin. I guess i'm able to make do with it...

So, for 2012... I plan to....
1. Lose weight >.< (it has always been my resolution coz i'm always unable to achieve it)
2. Pass AMusTCL
3. Sit for LTCL

i guess, that this year resolution is pretty much the same as last year's... at least it's a good thing. I'm not that fickle minded anymore. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!!!

March Updates

Been constantly busy at - I'm not sure what either.

Work is ok, normal reading and designing softwares - similar to what i did during my final year the only exception being i have to wake up early to reach office by 8.20am to have my stupid tag scanned at the stupid scanner.

Marriage is also ok, except that my hubby had to go for business trip for 12 days.... 12 days without him (T.T)

Music is not-so-ok, well, besides the 8.20 - 6pm at office, my extra time are spent on music. practising piano and violin. With 3 choirs in hand, 14 students and newly formed band I'm having a hard time juggling them. Not to mention preparing for my AT this year.

Always hoping I'm able to let go of something. Something which I will not regret after giving up. After excluding marriage from the list, I'm left with Work and Music. It's always like this, since Uni... Engineer or Musician?

New cleanser set

I've received my new cleanser set from my colleague today! This also mark the first product i bought from Amway. To be honest, I never like direct sales and think it's not a proper way to generate income but I can't deprive its product. Hence, I am giving Artistry cleanser a try. Hope that the Artistry Essentials Hydrating System will not kill my final dime of faith in Direct Sales. This set's retail price is RM 288, my colleague gave me another 10% discount. :) Here are pictures of my new cleanser set - pray that it'll work our for my skin coz the previous product i used, Origins (brightening) does not suit my skin, causing irritations and redness...

Mari Kita Membaca Campaign

Recently, been kinda confused. Of what I really love doing and how to live in reality. Been surfing the net, doin bits of work, practising a lot. Happen to look into my bookmarks and found the education malaysia blog. Their recent post is about this campaign - Mari Kita Membaca. This campaign basically raise funds to send books to orang asli village. Here's a short introduction about this campaign from the blog :

We started just a few months ago and in a nutshell, we fundraise to send
books to orang asli villages which already have community learning centers. We
screen and select villages that we think will benefit the most out of getting
the books and after consultation with local teachers, we help them buy the books
that would assist them in their curriculum. It's not a very big operation, but
we do what we can. We have a pretty quick turnover of our cash, and 100% of it
goes towards buying the books and any delivery expenses.

So, I've posted bout World Vision on adopting a child, this time around i would love to share this meningful cause to readers out there. For more info, visit their site here.

Come to think of it, I yearn to be volunteers - though I will not get a luxurious life but at least my life will be a purposeful one. Worth pondering~

2 Consecutive Rejections in 2 years

I've graduated in 2009, since then, I've received 2 rejections from 2 of my applications. 1st was in 2010, when i applied for CEMACUBE scholarship - to be honest, until now i do not know the reason i was rejected. 2nd was last Monday by the Ministry of Education. That too, I do not know the reason for rejection.

What does it imply? What is it that God wants me to do? If God has His plan laid out, does it mean that I'm no longer fitted to be in the Education industry. Or He has his other plans for me... Whatever it is, one thing for sure - my confidence level has dropped since then.

Is my husband aware of it? Is he being supportive enough? I guess he does, but he don't really understand why I simply can't be who I am now. Why am I yearning for more. Actually, me neither...

KPLI - Result Released

Finally... the days of waiting are over.

Somehow, it's still not really officially over - we're still left with few hours, presuming those ppl at KPM (Ministry of Education) are going to upload the list by 5pm.

They announced on their site that the result will be released on the 17th January 2011 but no specific time were given. According to forumers from cari, KPM normally uploads the result by 9am or 12pm. But until now, 3.40pm - there's still no news.

I'm getting freaked out. The process of waiting is indeed distress, gruesome, excited, stomach twisting - I'm not sure if there's such word. Nevertheless, i've read on "The monk who sold his Ferrari" that we should enjoy the process, regardless what it takes us to. "Happiness is a journey, not a destination" Isn't that book inspirational?

Why can't they just get the freaking list published~~!!! :P

Finally... it's out - for real. The link is here: http://kpli.moe.gov.my/twr11/index.cfm . Unfortunately, I didn't get it. They rejected my application. Yet another rejection. I've been rejected twice since I've graduated. When will I be able to get what I want - or I do not want enough?

Somehow - I'm grateful that I've been saved from the misery of waiting for something. Made me feel like vomitting. In a way, it's good too. It means I'm able to get pregnant and have Dragon baby next year!

We're all living in a helpless world

When was the last time you met with an unfortunate event?

My worst experience was this morning. Yesterday evening I received a call from my mum saying that someone has broke into her house while she was not at home. It seems the thieves took all valuable they could find. PC, LCD monitor, jewelery, coins, cash, camcorder, golf bag, shoes, and pots of bonsai! We've calculated, and there weren't much losses. Approximately RM4000.00. The unfortunate part is that we did not realise there's one more very important thing missing during that break in.

The next morning as i woke up, got ready for work - I realise my phone had miss call from my aunt. I called back. Guess what. My mum's car is missing - from her house with the autogate wide open. GOSH. The important thing that was missing and we didn't realise was her car's spare key.

Apparently, the thieves took her spare key and autogate's key. They came back to her house while they were asleep and drove the car away. Mum did not hear her car engine start - most probably they pushed it out and started engine when the car is out from the house's compound.

Immediately my mum went to lodge a police report. Actually, right after her house was broken into, she has called the police and asked if they could come over to have a look. They replied that they will not come to the crime scene unless someone made a police report at the police station. So, my mum was asked to make a trip to the station before they could do anything. My mum was reluctant to go because she was traumatised and didn't want to leave home. I too agreed with her decision as there was nothing much the police could do and my mum needed time to be at home.

After the car was stolen, she went to lodge a report. She told the police what happened, but turned out the report was not written the way it was spoken but my mum didn't bother correcting them because she was simply too sad and shocked. 3 hours later, an officer came to her house. took pictures - when the stuffs has been arranged back to the way it was. Officer blamed my mum for not making a police report earlier.

Then, here I am today, after bringing my mum to my aunt's house to borrow a car. I feel so helpless. What can we do when things are stolen? rely on police to retrieve them back? it took them 3 hours to come to the crime scene. Not to mention they didn't write the report as it was told. One inspector even asked my mum to drop by the Central police station to lodge another report. When my mum asked him why can't she do it today, he replied - he has another case elsewhere. So he can only deal with this case tomorrow.

By tomorrow, everything will be history. Nothing can be retrieved. Hopeless. All this while, we have been a law abiding citizen. We lived by rules, made a proper living. What do we get? Injustice, unfair, and distress. Then why on earth are we still living here? What's the point of living your life anymore when in the end, you will still end up being helpless.

Life...

Yes, despite all the complaining going on. Life goes on.

One's Life story usually goes like this;

Preface:
This chapter portrays how you started your life, from your mum's womb - the matrix, into the world. Perhaps, one might talk about how your mum took care of you while you were in it.

PART 1: The first dozen year - Carefree Life
Chapter 1: Awakening.
Here comes the the new born. As white as a piece or paper. So pure, so innocent. Chapter 1 depicts your life as a baby, until the day you start to turn into a mischievous little angel.

Chapter 2: The Toddler.
Yes, this is the time when you start input all you have in your surroundings. Everything seems to be new to you. You are excited, curious to learn everything and anything you can find around you. You start destroying everything you have in hand yet you are still lovable.

Chapter 3: Pre Schooler.
Finally, you got the chance to really learn the proper way. You start going to school, start learning how to speak correctly, count precisely - not that precise though, or even play some instrument. Me? I got to know piano when i was 5. Have been loving it since :)

Chapter 4: Novice.
Welcome to primary school and start spending the first 6 years of preliminary education. You will be exposed to more people, more input, and of course more conflicts in life. You might even start shaping your future now. For me, I thought I would either be a pianist or an athelete. Never thought that I could be the studious type.

PART 2: The next dozen of year - Steering Life
Chapter 5: Intermediate.
How was the first 6 years of your student life? Enjoyable? Can't bear to leave it? Worry not, you will soon come to complete the next 6 years of your student life. In this intermediate stage, all I had was visions and dreams. I dreamt of me playing piano in a concert. I dreamt of me going into the Olympics. I dreamt of being a Doctor as well as a Lawyer. Hmm.. endless sweet dreams. Nevertheless, there are also many life issues faced during this 6 years of secondary school. Towards the end of the 5th year, I hated who I am and can't wait to be an independant adult. This is also the rebellious period of my life.

Chapter 6: Advance.
My dad told me, in order to survive in future, you need to go through another few years studying. Well, I took a heed on his advise, moved on for tertiery education. Guess what, I took up a course which I would never imagine myself doing. Engineering. Perhaps it suited my character, always seeking challenges. Engineering is indeed about challange, solving endless problems. Finally, I graduated.

PART 3: 3rd dozen - Settling Life
Chapter 7: Independance.
What does it feel when you are able to be on your own? I though it would be happy, but i was wrong. It was stress. To be on your own simply means: you have to do everything by yourself and no one will be covering your ass anymore. I moved on - not long though...

Chapter 8: Union.
Once you are independant, you will start feeling helpless - mayb not all but me - for sure. As mentioned earlier, it's time to settle down your life. To continue the rest of the journey.

This is what i can jot down as I'm here at chapter 8. The rest will be updated accordingly if time permits. 1st January 2011 will mark the start of Chapter 8. I hope those who were in my life story to be able to celebrate the start of Chapter 8 with me. Let's reminisce the previous chapters of life...

PART 4: Expansion

Continue on 8/12/2014
Chapter 9: Fruit of Love
Marriage has been fun, no I don't mean it's not fun now, but it's time to move on. Time to add a new family member to the small family which only had two members. Our fruit of love was born on 3rd February 2013. Since then, my life has been fast paced. Watching him growing up in the speed of lightning. Everything just happen so fast. Moving on, we decided to have another fruit added to this tree. Our 2nd fruit of love was born May 2015.

Chapter 10: Maturing the fruits
Bearing fruit was not easy but taking care of them, making sure they grow healthily is way harder. Who would have though I would spend part 4 of my life staying at home looking after them.

Happy Birthday Grandma!!!

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthyday to AMA,
Happy Birthday to you...

Dear Ama,

If only you were around, I will be on leave today, I will cook you red egg + mi sua, buy you a low sugar cake and bring you to hypermarkets for you to do your shopping

If only you were around, I will stay with you yesterday night, to chat with you before you sleep, to drink the milo you made for me before i sleep

If only you were around, I will be the most filial grandchild you have, to bring you for check-ups, to buy you medicine you need so you don't have to walk those extra miles

If only you were around, I will make sure your days which are numbered will be meningful, your past sufferings will be worthwhile and every sacrifices you made be priceless

I am sorry to not be able to do all those when you were around. Ever since the day you went away, I've been living my life with regrets, with shadows from the past, with things I didn't do and will never be able to do.

The grieving period, people say can be as short as 1 month but it too can be as long as a lifetime. I grieve because you meant a lot to me, I am here today, for you gave me the courage, you were a good exampler, you showed me a glimpse of my future. Thank you and you will always be remembered even after generations. This will be the greatest achievement in your life.

HaPPY 81 years old, AMA!
