Trip to Sarawak - Day 1

Day 1: Kuching
8th January 2008

Went to Melaka Sentral at 7am. Darius sent me and ah bee to Melaka Sentral.
Departed from Melaka at 8am. Took Tai Lye bus to Tampin. Reached Tampin at about 10am. Sam's mum picked us up from Tampin bus station then headed to her house. Departed from their house at 10.30am. We saw a train passing by on our way to LCCT.

Reached LCCT at about 11.30am. Went to meet Gui Yan, Michael, Pei Xian, and Mei Shan. Checked in at 1.20pm. Flight departed at 2.10pm. We reached Kuching at 3.15pm. Faster than the estimated time.

When reach, we met Jia Feng. It's been so long since we last met... Then, Ah Jian arrived. Followed by his 3 other frens, whom i forgot their names... :P We checked into Orchid Inn at Green Hill (which we checked out on the same day) then went for lunch. Sarawak Cendol, Lemon+Sugar Cane, Sea Coconut+sumthing, Tomato Mee (Kuching Mee), Belacan Mee Hun, Sotong Kangkung, Fried Carrot Cake. All this costs us less that RM 5 per pax.

Went for a walk around that area after those sumptuous yet cheap lunch. There's a lot of Cafe and shop in Kuching with funny names.. For example, '我家包店', The Office, Bla Bla Bla..., and many others which i dun remember. After that, we took picture with Kuching's mascot: The white cat near the roundabout.

We too saw the board showing parking rules.. It only cost then 20cents per hour and if the time exceeded, the compound is only 83 cents. so cheap as compared to the rate in KL or JB, or even Melaka.

At around 7pm, we went to visit the river which seperates Kuching to north and south. A lot of stalls selling Sarawak Gambir there... Then, it's dinner time again... went to a chinese shop for ma la mee (spicy noodle), we didn't eat much because we came here to try not to fill up our stomach as we'll have another round later.

I dun understand why they choose to put green lights

Soon after sight seeing, we went to find another hotel because the earlier one which we checked in is not very pleasing.. Then we found Borneo Hotel. Checked in and went out for dinner... We went to the so called 'open air', where there's a lot of stalls and variety of food. We ate Paku Pakis (Pei Xian's favourite in Sarawak), Fried Oyster (which looks like fried prawn crackers), and siew bi (filled with seafood, not meat), as for drinks, we drank 3 coloured teh si. Then, we headed off to rest. However, since all the 7 (excluding Sam) of us share a room, it's not until 2am when all of us slept. Thanks for the story telling session by Pei Xian :P
